PMC Grading Service

I charge zero (0) to grade any comic you buy from me.

I have graded comic books since before Overstreet existed.

http://graphic-illusion.com is my main website.

http://rob-gustaveson.com tells you about me.

I have never charged to grade a comic book.  (Though I offered to grade ANY comic book for $5 using Overstreet standards).  No one ever took me up on it.

I am not affliated with any grading service as of Sept. 2011.

I've graded 3 entire comic stores.  Mine and others.

On Ebay as graphic-illusion I never had a problem with a customer until this week over the grade of a comic ( a half grade but even then they left a positive) and many of my customers send them to CGC and I grade so hard that it comes back better than I state.  Maybe twice in 13 years and 1220 positive feedback (transactions) I gave a refund merely because the person was not happy.  Though the items were in stated grade.  But if someone leaves a negative or is intentionally sabotaging me on Ebay then I will not give a refund after the fact.  If I block one of their user i.d.'s then I block all of them.  If it isn't this way it ought to be.

I have never made a statement that my comics would be graded by another and arrive at the same conclusion.  I don't sell comics for grade.  I sell them for quality contents (the art and story).

I have never tried to compete with anyone or harass them, ever.  Though over 13 years on Ebay it has been quite a challenge.   Maybe it is just business but some of the competitors there (and elsewhere) are harsh, sneaky and it is all about money for them.

I video taped my comics before CGC did.  I plan to utilize CGC & other grading services someday and have sold CGC comics already.  CGC is not keeping their word about how long it takes to get a comic graded by them.  I've waited for longer than so stated by them on their form.  But at the same time I can understand that they may have great success since for online retail comic book commerce a grading service is a good idea.  But without doubt they charge too much.

I understand the resistance to having your comics graded by them.  Since to have to pay to grade seems hard on the ego after having done so for so long oneself.  You try to sell a comic for a fraction of the cost in higher grade and people don't trust you unless it is graded by perhaps people who love comics less than you.  I wish CGC much success. Sincerely.  I think they must already have it.

One could say we are all in the same boat that is the comic industry.  Sadly many preach it is sinking.  They say it for selfish reason's.  It isn't really.  It's fine forever even with techno change and all.  These old comics are really great entertainment and still overall cheap.

Many people wag their tongue without any real experiential knowledge or depth.  They have their own many agendas.  Still I believe and know that given a level playing field I would have sold many many thousands of comics on Ebay that were blocked for reason's too numerous to mention.

I choose mostly to sell comic art on Ebay rather than comics due to all the hasell that occurs when you try to OFFER comics for sale there.  And the competition knows this and does it on purpose.

I have sold comics for 45 years.  I am going nowhere.  I have thousands upon thousands of satisfied customers.  And I may own a brick and mortal store again.  I keep my comics in high grade.  I have only sold at about 4 shows so far.  My parent called them a den of theives.  Maybe so.

I propose fairness and accuracy and that the truth comes out.  In the meantime I'd like to hear your thoughts.  Does CGC cost too much.  Tell me your good and bad experiences..I'll share them all.
